It’s storytime!

Tutorial class 4

Election

This week, we watched a Greek tragedy, Election. When I heard we were going to watch a tragedy film, I really thought of it to be a film where there will be physical injuries to the characters like what happens in other tragedies. However, this film turned out to be otherwise.

I do agree with the class that there are some episodic plots in the film. When Ryan asked if there was some parts of the film relating to what Aristotle mentioned about tragedy films, I wanted to say about the episodic plots. But I did not. Maybe I was in a daze as I was having a tummy ache at that time.

Some thoughts that ran through my mind while watching Election: People actually harm others(even innocent ones) in order to gain victory. Why should they try all ways and means the get things that they had always wanted badly? I think it’s all up to thier own ability to own. If by hurting people in order to gain victory, won’t the sense of guilt remain in them for the the rest of their life. Is it worth it and will they be truly satisfied?

No assignments for this week’s tutorial and that was something which consoled me. I was expecting some story writing assignments though.

Sigh, it’s already week 5.

Alright, I’m ready for gossip. Are you mean sometimes? Just nasty mean, where you know things are wrong but do them anyway?

Do you lie? Is there a mean girl hidden under your quiet exterior?

We’ve determined you don’t like to analyze. Let’s see if you like to tell secrets.
